Terms & Conditions

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern all commercial catering, private dining services, and event activations provided by Fat Rice (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By paying a calendar deposit or approving a formal catering estimate, the client (“Client”) agrees to these terms.

2. Pricing Tiers & 14-Day Price Lock

All itemized catering proposals and per-guest package rates issued by Fat Rice remain guaranteed against wholesale supply-chain market increases for 14 calendar days from the date of issue. Proposals unconfirmed after 14 days may be subject to recalculation based on current commissary ingredient pricing and kitchen availability.

Baseline event minimum spends apply across service categories (Corporate Drops from $2,000; Studio Buyouts and Receptions from $2,500–$3,500; Private Dining at $125 per guest with minimum headcounts) prior to applicable taxes, service staffing, and delivery fees.

3. Booking Deposits & Payment Schedule

An event date is officially secured on our commissary production calendar only upon receipt of a 50% deposit. The remaining 50% balance, along with finalized menu selections, guaranteed guest headcounts, and dietary requirements, must be confirmed 14 business days prior to your event date. Minor dietary adjustments can be accepted up to 7 business days prior.

4. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

  • Notice 30+ Days Prior: The 50% deposit may be transferred to a mutually agreeable rescheduled date within 6 months.
  • Notice 14 to 29 Days Prior: The deposit is converted into kitchen event credit valid for 6 months, minus any custom ingredient or planning costs incurred.
  • Notice Under 14 Days Prior: Deposits are non-refundable due to commissary batch allocations, perishable ingredient procurement, and kitchen staffing locks.

5. The 10% Food Overflow Buffer Policy

Fat Rice prepares and packs a complimentary 10% food overflow buffer for contracted events at our own expense. This buffer functions as an operational safety margin to ensure platters remain full and late arrivals are fed. The buffer does not permit intentional under-reporting of guest headcounts; contracted billing is determined strictly by the confirmed guest headcount.

6. Venue Access, Electrical & Non-Kitchen Logistics

Fat Rice utilizes 100% self-contained portable induction staging prepped out of our certified commissary. We require zero open flames, grease traps, or commercial exhaust hoods. The Client is responsible for ensuring reasonable electrical access (standard 15-amp circuits) and coordinating freight elevator reservations, loading dock clearance, or security passes with building property management. Delays resulting from building access restrictions outside our control remain the Client’s responsibility.

7. Food Safety & Post-Service Handling

In accordance with Toronto Public Health standards, food held at room temperature during passed or grazing service cannot be repackaged for subsequent off-site consumption after 2 hours. Fat Rice assumes no liability for food handled, transported, or consumed after our staff concludes on-site service.
